  1. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, but violence takes lives away (Pro 11:30 NRS)

God gives us the true way so we receive the life

Deuteronomy 11:24 “Every place upon which the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: … ”

I understand that this word was given to the Israelites concerning the Promised Land, but we’ve learned to appropriate (“by faith”) the same relationship to our own paths,… When we walk (wherever) “in faith” in our God, He walks with us, and we thereby gain greater authority in the particular atmosphere we are inhabiting at that time,… We can appropriate dominion (for the purposes of our Lord — peace, salvation, love, prayer — to grow) as we move through our regular steps in this life,…

I like to use my daily faith in this way, to accompany the “ordinary” doings of life,… that way, no one is really a complete stranger, things that happen are not just empty accidental meaningless occurrences,… God comes with us on our journey and makes it more,… more real,… more alive,… more meaningful,… more personal,… more purposeful,… more hopeful,… and graced with more possibilities,…

Thank you, Georgie-ann, for your post on Nov 26, 2012. I had been doing an Internet search on the topic of appropriating one’s faith. Until I read your post, I had little to go on other than the Bible itself (Ephesians 3:17…”That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith…”) which, including the verses before and after it, make up a classic beautifully deep Bible passage. However, what I was looking for was exactly what you tied the thought of appropriating one’s faith to—that is, the concept of walking in dominion over life’s circumstances; that is, appropriating the promise of Deuteronomy 11:24 to otherwise ‘ordinary’ things in life.

I have and am still learning to appropriate faith in all circumstances. God really is there with us at all times!

To illustrate this, may I tell a little story. I was driving in an unfamiliar part of a city and had to be there by a certain time. I knew that the road I was to turn left on was to the left of a gas station. Was it a Gate station, or a RaceTrac??? I couldn’t remember, so I prayed a frantic prayer for the Lord to guide me. What do you know, but the vehicle that came into my view immediately was a fuel tanker truck with the words “Gate” painted in large red letters on its side. Wow! Only God can do such a work of engineering things in our lives, to see into the future and have a truck there as a signpost for me at just the right moment I needed it.

What a loving God we serve!
